Title: Using Evidence as a Local Educational Agency to Strengthen Education Investments and Achieve Student Outcomes Webinar 1: Planning for Success: Using Evidence to Identify Local Needs & Select Relevant Evidence-Based Interventions  

Description: In the first webinar of the series, attendees learned from district leader Phil Hardin, about the use of evidence by Iredell-Statesville Schools (I-SS) in Statesville, North Carolina, when assessing the local needs of schools and designing a blended learning project, Innovative Methods for Personalizing Academics, Complemented by Technology (IMPACT), to improve educator effectiveness and student achievement in reading and mathematics in grades 6-12. IMPACT integrates 1:1 technology, digital content, data-driven instruction for students, and professional development and support for teachers and school leaders. 

Attendees also had an opportunity to engage with national experts from Mathematica Policy Research (Mathematica) and the National Implementation Research Network (NIRN) to learn: 1.) The evidence requirements established in ESSA; 2.) How to use evidence when identifying local needs, and; 3.) How to identify and select interventions that have a rigorous evidence base and will improve student outcomes.
