Title: Using Evidence in State Education Agencies to Strengthen Education Investments and Achieve Student Outcomes

Description: This webinar, hosted by the U.S. Department of Education’s (Department’s) Office of State Support, was designed for SEA leaders seeking to build their capacity to use evidence when supporting Local educational agencies (LEAs) and schools to select and implement interventions that will improve outcomes for students in accordance with ESSA. Framed around the Department’s non-regulatory guidance for strengthening education investments, this webinar provided attendees with an opportunity to:

  • Learn from Kathy Ryder, director of the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction’s (WI DPI’s) Response to Interventions (RtI) Center, about WI DPI’s use of evidence-based practices and evidence-based decision making when supporting LEAs and schools to implement and sustain RtI systems;
  • Engage with national experts from Mathematica Policy Research and the National Implementation Research Network on evidence-based decision making and the use of evidence to strengthen the implementation of interventions in every step of the school improvement process, and;
  • Learn about resources, including a new Community of Practice hosted by the State Support Network, to help SEAs enhance supports to LEAs and schools for using evidence to select, implement, and continuously improve the implementation of interventions.
