Description: In the final webinar of the series, attendees learned from IDEA district leaders Tricia Lopez, director of Special Programs, and David Castro, director of Secondary Individualized Learning, about the district’s use of evidence to monitor implementation, and measure the impact, of two programs demonstrating positive results for students- Critical Student Intervention (CSI) and Catalyst. CSI provides targeted interventions to students in grades 3-7 who are two or more years below grade level in reading or mathematics. Catalyst, a program where students are assessed and placed in leveled groups three times per year, provides targeted support to all students in grades 6-12 at 14 schools to develop academic and college/career readiness (i.e., non-academic) skills.

Attendees also had an opportunity to engage with national experts from Mathematica and NIRN to learn how to: 1.) Set and monitor reasonable expectations for success; 2.) Create and track interim progress and performance milestones; 3.) Identify the need and capacity for evaluating effectiveness; 4.) Inform future decision making through lessons learned, and; 5.) Use evidence to determine next steps.
