School Quality and Student Success (SQSS) Indicators Community Summary

This CoP helped participating state educational agencies (SEAs) increase their capacity to implement SQSS indicators and scale effective practices that are likely to elevate student outcomes and help states meet their long-term goals.

Community of Practice (CoP): SQSS Indicators

CoP Description: This CoP helped participating state educational agencies (SEAs) increase their capacity to implement SQSS indicators and scale effective practices that are likely to elevate student outcomes and help states meet their long-term goals. The CoP focused on accountability metrics, with attention to cross-cutting issues related to implementation, reporting, and school improvement. States learned from subject matter experts (SMEs), states outside of the CoP, and from one another as they addressed the opportunities, challenges, and practical concerns associated with implementing their selected SQSS indicators. Based on CoP member needs and interests, the CoP focused on the exploration of chronic absenteeism and social-emotional learning as SQSS indicators. Through their participation, CoP members achieved the following goals:

• Identified opportunities and challenges in implementing their SQSS indicators
• Identified strategies for using SQSS indicator data in a meaningful way to improve outcomes for students
• Determined effective ways to embed these strategies into their accountability, reporting, and school improvement systems

The resources below were used during learning cycle activities. They are organized in two sections. The first set of resources included materials created by SMEs for the work of the CoP as well as items curated from other technical assistance providers. The second set of resources were shared by participating member states.
