Title: Using Evidence as a Local Educational Agency to Strengthen Education Investments and Achieve Student Outcomes Webinar 2: Ensuring Success: Using Evidence to Plan for and Implement Interventions to Achieve Student Outcomes

Description: In the second webinar of the series, attendees learned from Dr. Ritu Khanna, San Francisco Unified School District’s Chief of Research, Planning, and Assessment, about the district’s use evidence to plan for and implement a systems approach to accelerate student achievement in 16 persistently low-achieving schools in two San Francisco neighborhoods. This approach, rooted in research, included a set of intensive resources and supports based around five central components: 1.) Building leadership capacity; 2.) Providing instructional guidance; 3.) Building professional capacity; 4.) Creating a student-centered learning climate, and; 5.) Strengthening parent-community ties.

Attendees also had an opportunity to engage with national experts from Mathematica and NIRN to learn about: 1.) Creating an implementation plan; 2.) The role of stakeholders in the planning process; 3.) The importance of fidelity and how to ensure it, and; 4.) How to plan for and address unforeseen barriers.
