Teacher Quality Partnership (TQP)

The purpose of the Teacher Quality Partnership (TQP) program is to improve student achievement; improve the quality of prospective and new teachers by improving the preparation of prospective teachers and enhancing professional development activities for new teachers; hold teacher preparation programs at institutions of higher education (IHEs) accountable for preparing teachers who meet applicable State certification and licensure requirements; and recruit highly qualified individuals, including minorities and individuals from other occupations, into the teaching force.

The U.S. Department of Education (Department) announced a Notice Inviting Applications (NIA) for the Teacher Quality Partnership program in the Federal Register on April 4, 2024. This TQP NIA will close on June 3, 2024. The Department plans to award approximately $25 million to eligible partnerships to support high-quality teacher preparation and professional development for prospective teachers and school leaders.

On Friday, May 3, 2024, the Department will host a live webinar to highlight information found in all four pre-application slide decks located on the TQP webpage and allow applicants to ask questions. 

Additionally, The Department will host TQP Office Hours on Friday, May 17, 2024, from 1-2 pm (EDT) to answer additional questions.  Keep in mind, applicants may send questions at any time to the TQP inbox at TQPartnership@ed.gov
