FY 2017 Application Information
- The Department held a pre-application Webinar for prospective applicants on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. (Washington DC time).
- This webinar reviewed the priorities, selection criteria, and the application and eligibility requirements, in addition to the steps required to complete the grants.gov registration process.
- A recording of the webinar is available here.
- Applications must be submitted electronically through the Grants.gov system at http://grants.gov/.
- Please do not e-mail an electronic copy of a grant application to us.
Registering on Grants.gov:
- Applicants must register at Grants.gov prior to submitting an application.
- Grants.gov recommends allowing several weeks to complete all registration steps.
- You may begin working on your application while completing the registration process, but you cannot submit an application until all of the registration steps are complete.

Invitational Priority – Rigorous Evaluation of School Practices
The FY 2017 Replication and Expansion grant competition includes an invitational priority that encourages applicants to conduct rigorous evaluations of practices within their schools, with the goal of producing that will, if well implemented, produce evidence that meets What Works Clearinghouse (WWC) Evidence Standards.
For technical assistance in developing effective performance measures and effective evaluation processes, applicants are encouraged to review information provided by the Department’s Regional Educational Laboratories (RELs). The RELs seek to build the capacity of States and school districts to incorporate data and research into education decision-making. Each REL provides research support and technical assistance to its region but makes learning opportunities available to educators everywhere.
