The purpose of these Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) is to provide information about the Magnet Schools Assistance Program FY 2016 Competition. The FAQs do not impose any requirements beyond those included in the Magnet Schools Assistance Program notice inviting applications for new awards for fiscal year 2016 and other applicable laws and regulations. In addition, they do not create or confer any rights for or on any person.

FY 2016 Call For Peer Reviewers
The Department encourages individuals from various backgrounds and professions with content expertise to apply to be a peer reviewer for the FY 2016 MSAP Competition. If you are interested in serving as a peer reviewer for the FY 2016 MSAP Competition, please see the FY 2016 Call for Peer Reviewers, which describes the necessary qualifications. If you meet the necessary qualifications, please complete and submit the Peer Reviewer Information Checklist along with either your resume or curriculum vitae to msap.team@ed.gov.

The MSAP team hosted a series of webinars for entities interested in submitting an FY 2016 application. All webinars can be accessed using the information below:
Friday, April 29, 1:00pm EST: The MSAP team and Office for Civil Rights hosted a webinar for entities interested in submitting an FY 2016 application. The webinar provided an opportunity for interested applicants to submit questions during the live presentation.
Monday, May 2, 1:00pm EST: The Institute of Education Sciences hosted a webinar providing resources about the What Works Clearinghouse and information about the standards for meeting requirements for Evidence of Promise.
Monday, May 9, 1:00pm EST: The MSAP Center hosted a webinar providing suggestions and guidance on developing and using logic models for magnet schools.
Tuesday, May 10, 1:00pm EST: The National Science Foundation and the Office of STEM hosted a webinar providing more information about the STEM priority under this competition.

FY 2016 Notice of Intent to Apply
Applicants are strongly encouraged to notify the U.S. Department of Education of the applicant’s intent to submit an application for funding by completing this web-based form. An entity may submit an application even if they did not submit a notice of intent to apply. The deadline to submit the intent to apply is May 9, 2016.

Please note that the MSAP Application Package is for applicants to download and use as a guide only. Unless the applicant qualifies for an exception to the electronic submission requirement, all MSAP grant applications must be submitted electronically via Grants.gov.

The enrollment data tables are fillable PDFs. They are not located in the Grants.gov application packet. They must be downloaded, completed electronically, and uploaded into the Grants.gov system as attachments. DO NOT SCAN THE COMPLETED FORMS. When downloading, please save the form by the correct name. For example, if you are completing Table #1, save the PDF as Table #1 and be sure to upload the correct tables.
