Seeking Peer Reviewers for the Arts in Education Model Development and Dissemination Program

The Department is currently seeking peer reviewers for the FY 2013 Arts in Education – Model Development and Dissemination Grants Program (AEMDD) competition. Persons interested in serving as peer reviewers need to submit their resumes and a completed copy of the “AEMDD Peer Reviewer Checklist” to Clifton.Jones@ed.gov by Friday, April 12, 2013.

AEMDD peer reviewers represent various backgrounds and professions, including:

  • Arts or arts education;
  • Elementary through high school education;
  • Professional development;
  • Special populations;
  • Research and evaluation;
  • Curriculum development;
  • Model development;
  • Educational partnerships; and
  • School administration.

The review process will consist of an electronic review of applications. Reviewers will be assigned to three-person panels. Based on the AEMDD selection criteria, each reviewer will be expected to read and evaluate approximately 10-12 applications. Reviewers will participate in an orientation call prior to evaluating the applications, which will familiarize reviewers with the selection criteria for AEMDD and the electronic review process. The orientation session is tentatively scheduled for early May 2013. The electronic review will occur during the week immediately following orientation. Reviewers receive an honorarium.

AEMDD Reviewers will electronically document strengths and weaknesses and assign a score to each application. Each reviewer must have access to the Internet and a printer and have the ability to interact within a Web-based environment. Conference calls may be scheduled multiple times during the review process. Reviewers must be available for all conference calls.
