Ten grantees of the Office of Innovation and Improvement (OII) are also 2012 Race to the Top-District (RTT-D) grant-award winners. On Tuesday, December 11, 2012, the Department of Education announced 16 RTT-D applicants that competed successfully for the first-time district-level grants that will support reform efforts in 55 school districts across 11 states.
Districts awarded the RTT-D grants will develop local plans to personalize and deepen student learning, improve student achievement and teacher effectiveness, close achievement gaps, and prepare all students for college and careers.
The RTT-D grantees that are current recipients of grants from OII programs are:
Charleston County School District, South Carolina: Professional Development for Arts Educators and Teaching American History programs grantee.
Green River Regional Education Cooperative, Kentucky: Transition to Teaching grantee.
Guilford County Schools, North Carolina: Transition to Teaching and Teaching American History programs grantee, and the University of North Carolina Greensboro, a Teacher Quality Partnership grantee, is a partner of the Guilford County Schools.
Harmony Science Academy (Harmony Public Schools), Texas: The Cosmos Foundation, the nonprofit organization that operates Harmony Public Schools, is a Charter Schools Management Organization grantee.
IDEA Public Schools, Texas: Investing in Innovation (i3) Development, Replication and Expansion of High-Performing Charter School, and Exemplary Charter School Collaboration programs grantee.
Iredell-Statesville Schools, North Carolina: i3 Development grantee.
KIPP DC, Washington, D.C.: KIPP DC is a part of the KIPP Foundation’s Replication and Expansion of High-Performing Charter Schools and i3 Scale-up grants.
Puget Sound Educational Service District, Washington: Professional Development for Arts Educators program grantee.
School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida: Arts in Education Model Development and Dissemination, School Leadership, Teaching American History, and i3 Development grantee.
St. Vrain Valley Schools, Colorado: i3 Development grantee.
